Well, it's been talked about for a while, but TG is finally getting active in JK2 again.
Thanks to LlamaOnDrug's kind, kind actions in buying us a server, all the old skool JK2 players have suddenly dusted off the ageing Jedi robes and are once again kicking ass on the servers. This also co-incides with some proper old skool boys suddenly turning up again, so WB Talon, and if my eyes don't deceive me.. Ninko!
Our server is 79.170.193.52:28070
and you'll see us playing lots of the custom maps over the coming weeks. Everything we play will be available for download here - so put those files in your Gamedata/Base folder and join the fun. Once upon a time TG had 50 JK2 players, even now I can count off 10 who've been playing the past couple of days, so lets see what happens next C'mon old timers, find that CD and join us!

Merry Christmas everyone!
Hope you all have a really nice day with your families and that Santa/Sinter gives you some nice goodies I'm sure there's going to be plenty of gaming over the next few days (once the Christmas meal has been digested) so be sure to get on xfire and steam and come join in!
The JK2 game is still going ahead, and STEAM have reduced it in price even further to just £3 so go get it! We're currently talking about the 27th for a game so you've still got a day left.

Yo peeps! After spotting that JK2 was available on STEAM for a measly £6.99, I'm bullying everyone I can think of to come play one of TG's all time great games this Christmas! Lets see if we can remember how to do it and see if we can have some proper "NF Sabres GF GG" fun on Bespin Pad. Forum post here.
So far the exact dates are a bit sketchy, but it looks like the 27th December is pretty much on, and I suspect there could be a repeat session or two over the holiday period as well! I'm organising a server (or frankly we can just take over someone else's) so be sure to spread the word to all the Jedi you meet and lets have some beers and wave our glowy sticks around a bit.
Wait, that sounds weird... :S

New Guild Wars 2 Video Released |
|
|
|
|
Guild Wars 2 might still be far away from even it's beta testing stage, but there have been some awesome videos released showing off some gameplay and some races. Another video has recently been released:
Guild Wars 2 - Videos
It seems like it still has managed to keep a lot of what made the first game(s) so good, but many new features are to be expected. Whether the outcome will be good or not it's hard to say. I do know though that many TG players are itching to play this game right now.

If you are interested in following the Guild Wars 2 development I'd suggest you sign up for the Newsletter which can be done from the same page where the link will take you.

Tomorrow night as an attempt to get started a bit more with the HoN division there will be a meeting and an open practise for those of you that would like to get a chance to play in the team. Take a chance to have some fun and get the opportunity to show us what you are worth!
Leading the event will Ehnen do, he'll also be able to supply you with a beta key and introduce you to the game if you are new.
The only we demand from you if you are going to take part is that you are either a TG member or a member of TGT. It will start around 21.00 CET, make sure to be on Teamspeak a couple of minutes before that so we know who'll show up!
EDIT: Due to an unfortunate collision in Ehnen and some other players time schedules this will be put on hold until further notice

Enemy Territory entering a new era? |
|
|
|
|
Even though the expansion to the well recieved Return To Castle Wolfenstein didn't perhaps pan out as Splashdamage thought from the beginning, we can with great confidence 6 years now after it's release say that Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is still a great game.

It was supposed to be full fledged expansion with it's own story and such, however this wasn't to be the case. Instead it got released as a free multiplayer online game which managed to get much attention. The game got immensly popular and a clan that where to pick it up eventually and start their own division was TG|. Led by Goatherder, Hangman, Recoil and Shockwave the TG Enemy Territory division ventured into competative gaming again alongside with CSS and JK2. Many members have come and gone during this time, the game has changed a lot. New maps, new leagues, new problems. This community has seen it all. Lately there have been wide discussions on whether the game is dieing or not. Not so many professional teams are playing it any longer and people have generally gotten bored of it after years of playing Supply and Goldrush over and over again. I believe that stating that a game is dead is just ridiculous, I've been in smaller gaming communities that have even without any sort of support from the game developer or even the benefit of a masterserver managed to survive for years. The Enemy Territory scene is far from dead, it might be smaller but it's still being enjoyed by thousands of people every day.
Last week, one of the most beloved admins in the ET scene, Tosspot, announced that there will be a Crossfire Challenge 7 held in Enchede, Netherlands. These series of LANS have been much appriciated and all the top teams from Europe have always been there to show off their skills. New for this year is that the format for the tournament will be 5on5. A nice move in my opinion, as teams will now have to pay for one less to go to the LAN and it'll be easier to keep teams together. This has resulted in Clanbase, one of the biggest gaming organisations for ET and many other games have chosen to drop the 6on6 format for their ladders. The sponsor for the LAN will be Intel, which is great news as this might draw even more MGC's attention. Hopefully this will bring the community together again bring more excitement back to the game that still is good, but it's kind of running the same lap over and over again.

We'll see what happens in TG if we are to start over again with 5 fresh players to compete, this will though take time and it's unlikely that any move will be made until early next year. If you are interested in enrolling for the TG Enemy Territory division you are more than welcome to apply. We got the servers, we got the site, we got the friends, now we just need your help!

Square Enix will be working on Deus Ex 3 |
|
|
|
|
The much anticipated Deus Ex 3 that Eidos Montreal is working on will be getting help from Japan. According to some sources the Japanese RPG giant Square Enix, that earlier this year started a cooperation with Eidos Montreal is going to do some work on Eidos Montreal's next big release; Deus Ex 3.

Stephane D'Astous, the general manager at EM stated; "Deus Ex 3 is going to be the first project which will be a concrete product of joint effort between Square Enix and Eidos,"
According to D'Astous Square Enix will be making the trailers and intro cinematic for the game.
This has led to discussions about Square Enix also perhaps being involved in Eidos Montreal's other upcoming project, Thief IV, after this statement from D'Astous; "The people in Tokyo are just so glad to work on it; this is the first project for them that's a non-Final Fantasy title— they even want to work on Thief 4 too, so everyone is really excited."
This is quite an interesting turn of events. The PC scene of gaming has seen brighter days, hopefully 2010 will bring us some awesome gaming experiences, even though Deus Ex III might be still under work then.

In this column I'm going to tell you a bit about the game Final Fantasy which is getting it's 13th (!) installment coming next year. What is the secret about this successful series of games and what has kept it alive this long? Hopefully this will help you by shedding some light about what this Final Fantasy is all about.
Squaresoft is a game developer known by many. Even the not so hardcore gamer might know a bit of the company’s history and the man behind it all. Hironobu Sakaguchi is today one of the more praised game developers of all time; he's the man behind the Final Fantasy series which seem to never end. When the idea of Final Fantasy was born, Squaresoft was on the edge of bankruptcy. Sakaguchi had one last chance to come up with a game idea that was to save the company. And so he did, ironically he named the game "Final Fantasy" as he believed that this was going to be his last game.
When looking back now though, we know that this wasn't going to be the case at all. Sakaguchi successfully managed to bring Squaresoft back on its feet, the first 5 games in the Final Fantasy series got mixed critic but they served their purpose. Especially the fourth game was successful, but it wasn't until when Final Fantasy VI arrived that Squaresoft where to have their major breakthrough. With an extraordinary story and fantastic designed characters by Yoshitaka Amano FFVI would take the world with storm. And with one of the most praised video game music creators of all time, Nobou Uematsu, supporting with a stunning soundtrack, this was going to be an instant classic. Final Fantasy VII followed, now in 3D on the Playstation. This was the game that where going to put Squaresoft in the history books forever. Even today there are people claiming that Final Fantasy VII with its 40 hours of game play is the best game ever made. Final Fantasy VIII, IX and X followed with even more praising and Squaresoft had during this time grown into being one of the biggest game developing companies in the world.
Many say that the story in Final Fantasy VII is one of the most emotional and deep in gaming history.
After the release of Final Fantasy X, Hironobo Sakaguchi took the decision to leave Squaresoft to form his own company, Mistwalker. And this is the time when Square would take the step to join forces with another big Japanese RPG game developer, Enix.

As I've been quite inactive these last three weeks I'd like to apologize on behalf of the ET team who were unfortunately left alone without any real knowing of what was going on.
However, as I am now back with everything sorted to get into business again, we'll need to look forward. What's up next and what's currently happening in TG?
Firstly though, I'd like to remind everyone to register at our community forums, that's where we discuss and chat and that is where you will get important information unless it is put up here! Register at --> http://www.thegatheringclan.org/frame/ Or simply follow the link "Forums" on the top menu bar.
Now, a brief update on the gaming side.
Enemy Territory
After some disputes with both ClanBase Chiefs and opponents in this falls Open Cup TG has decided, also due to some internal conflict to withdraw from the cup. I solely take the responsibility for this as I am the team captain. However, this does not mean that the team has seen an end of it's days. As of next Monday I and Cupcake will look closely into what we got and what we can make out of the division. Hopefully, we'll have 6 eager players ready to take on some ladders and cups soon again. The players are around, just gotta patch everything together again.
Call Of Duty 4
The Swedish team that was recruited this fall had to, after some unfortunate events IRL for the team captain Jimriniho, take a break. There were also some troubles concerning servers and players going inactive. However, as of this week the team is back in full swing again with both Nux and Jim stating that things are moving forward. New players will be recruited and for those of you interested there will be more updates on this matter coming weeks.
Heroes Of Newerth
HoN struck down like a lightning bolt a couple of months ago and is by now growing into being a great competative and fun game. ESL has announced tournaments and a 5on5 ladder has recently been opened. We have got severeal by now experienced players in TG who will hopefully in a near future come together as a team under the TG banner and participate in upcoming events. If you as a TG member would like to be a part of this then get in contact with Ehnen who will take the position as team captain.

With that said the TG Staff wishes you a nice gaming weekend with lots of bad weather! For questions and support; contact TG|Zymon at Xfire --> theflakkman
Happy fraggin'
